    What problems are you seeing?
As far as we can see it’s running fine.

    kevin,
it hasnt been as “live” as it is when it’s working properly.
sometimes it will jump back a few days like it’s running on a backup server.
in short, it’s awesome when it works, but over the last week it has been living up to it’s “beta” disclaimer.

It seems to me to be that Technorati is always going to be buggy. They’re overwhelmed and under-resourced. Mark Pilgrim, at DiveIntoMark (Who knows about this stuff.) noted last month that “There’s not a single instance of a centralized service in the weblogging community that works well and scales. Just look at Technorati, or Feedster, or Blogdex, or Bloglines. ”

(Hey, I don’t make the URLs. I just report them.
Anyone else getting that cute little dancing red rectangle on the technorati page?

    Kevin-
I wish I was getting the day old results like Tony, about 1 out of every 4 loads display properly, the other 3 either give a “were working, try back later”, a bunch of coded gibberish, or just stalls out completely. Although, agreed, that time it loads right is well woth the speedbumps on the others.

    Kevin:
Obviously, I’m doing the constant conversation (read: ego) check of this blog: It shows nothing new for 15 to 24 hours; it suddenly goes from 1483 blogs to 20 and then they reappear a day later; it thinks this blog was last updated 24 hours ago though I’ve been pinging with new posts like mad; its latest blog on the list is about 15 hours ago and yet I know of new links since then. I try to put in a NY Times story for a link today (here’s what people are saying about…) and it gives me nothing but a blank page. Every weekend for at least the last three weeks, I’ve seen this pattern. It’s still not better today on Wednesday. That’s what’s down.

What exactly is Technorati? A few days ago I got a referral from Technorati to my blog but before then I had never even been to the site. Since, though I have been posting updates but I haven’t gotten any hits from the site. Or does it not come up as a Tech refferal?
    Thanks
    Marc

We did change to having more slave databases over the weekend, and there were some initial teething troubles with synchronisation. I think those are fixed now, though there may be a little variation between them if we have a big burst of new blogs come in.
The inbound links going low and high bug is one we have been trying to track down for a while. We know it is due to a glitch in our caching system, but we haven’t pinned it down yet. Usually it is corrected when your blog updates. I’ll investigate further for yours Jeff.
Sean, send us a report to support@technorati.com with the url causing problems and I’ll check that too.
Van, Mark was writing tongue in cheek there. The whole piece is a parodic rant on Blogosphere attitudes. I wouldn’t say we’re overwhelmed or under-resourced, but we are very busy keeping up with the growth of the blogosphere, and sometimes rough edges show through. Thanks for your patience with us, and we hope to keep improving the service.

    Kevin:
I should have mentioned another symptom, doctor.
The count often changes without the list of links changing. So now, my count is back to 1491 but the links comes from 19 hours ago. This often happens; I’ll see the count increase but the links don’t change for a long time. I’m assuming these are two different caches, but I’ll stop diagnosing now.

Yes, Jeff, the count and the links are in different databases. We did a big cross-check today and all should be fully synchronised now. Thanks for the helpful comments.
