Why in the world would you need a compass in Manhattan?
You’re talking about people from a country where they purchase meals out of vending machines. No point in asking why.
ever get out of a unknown subway stop and wonder which way is uptown?
Forget the “Day After Tommorow“, it’s “The Core“!
(That movie is worth a rental just for the Trafalgar Square scene.)
God, that looks awful, Ann. A nuclear weapon is implanted at the core… why? And, it makes the core stop spinning… how? Even if you can answer the first question, the second one violates fundamental physics (conservation of angular momentum). Oh, well, maybe the special effects are good.
Wouldn’t be very surprising to find that standing near magnetized iron and steel structures could overwhelm the local Earth’s magnetic field.
Of course a compass won’t work in New York. They’ve secretly glued huge magnets to all the subway cars just to confuse people up on the streets. Darn sneaky city folks!
