According to this article, Franken wouldn’t run until 2008. 2008?!? Sorry but this sounds like a publicity stunt.

Tom: He’s waiting until 2008 becuause that when Republican Sen. Norm Coleman’s seat is up for re-election. The other senator from Minnesota (mark Dayton) is a Democrat.

Makes sense, bomb at the radio gig, so I must be Senate material.
A legend in his own mind. What a smarmy narcissist. Not to mention his cynical opinion of the public.

The line between politics and theater/entertainment grows ever smaller. People famous for being famous. People famous for saying outrageous things. People famous for anything using fame to achieve what fund raising cannot: headlines and news time…
Do we wonder why the electorate that shows grows smaller and smaller… No competition. No competing ideas. All messaged-polled-spun-and nuanced pushing the famous and fatuous… A political class of the entrenched, indebted and swollen second raters… “Can’t make it as a comedian, entertainer, actor, author? Then turn that fleeting fame into a lifetime sinecure as a member of the exclusive 545 member club. Once you’re in you are guaranteed an income, retirement plan, health insurance and be called “honorable” forevermore.” Could anyone resist?
Does it matter who we vote for, against, with?

Al must see this as a platform towards furthering his reputation as a “comedian”. God knows, the Senate is a joke.

Figures that Franken would go after one of the sanest voices on that side of the aisle.
But hey, all Republicans are evil, right?
