Howard Dean, in the toaster

Howard Dean, in the toaster
: Howard Dean says he will quit if he doesn’t win Wisconsin. I don’t find anything about this on the Dean blog (wouldn’t you think this would be news reported there first?). Instead, it helpfully announces the launch of Arab-Americans for Dean.

So Dean is toasting to a crispy crunchiness. I’m already slathering the jam on Clark (and oh, how I wish I’d bet on this one). The rest are insignificant; they’re not even spoilers.

So now it’s down to two.

I’m ODed on commentary about why Dean blew up. It couldn’t be simpler: The voters didn’t want him.

Dean will quit because he has no money, and because he is and always has been a non-entity . But where is all the suppport from his rabid followers, who were so righteous and willing to give via the internet, as the 3rd millenium was quickly coming to an end?
Why, they are where they always are. Back in their narcissistic, nihilistic, solipsistic, sadomasochistic, yellow-saturated holes they call “minds”.

the question isn’t about Dean’s pulling out once he realizes he is out of money and can’t win ANY states, the question is what will he do with his endorsement and his “Deaniacs”.
also isn’t it curious that Lieberman has not endorsed anyone and Gore has quietly crawled back into his hole after endorsing HoHo?

Clay Shirky said the same thing as you recently (Dean didn’t win because the voters didn’t want him) on that group blog of his (I’m assuming you’ve read it too).
Still, it’s a happyish day for the Dems. Had Dean stayed alive another month, George W would’ve been a shoe-in.

I saw a copy of Dean’s message to his people. Is it just me, or does this request sound similar to Jim Baker’s request: “Give me money, or God will take me!”?

No matter how much pontification goes on, like they say in sports “That’s why they play the game” it wasn’t until PEOPLE ACTUALLY CAST VOTES did anything matter. Give the folks in Iowa credit they sussed them all out and cast actual votes, so did the New Hampshire-ites…. it didn’t matter what the cover of Newsweek said. The people’s voice is their vote.

According to a friend who works at CNN, the most recent Wisconsin poll shows Dean with only 8% of the vote, behind Kerry, Clark and Edwards. Might as well keep the butter knife handy.
Of course, even if Dean does concentrate his money and efforts on Wisconsin and manages to win, what does that tell Democrats? That Dean is capable of winning in Wisconsin, but nowhere else? Why would the Dems doom themselves to such a landslide?
