Playing politics with tragedy

Playing politics with tragedy
: The mullahs of Iran continue to play politics while their people suffer.

They refused Israeli aid.

They accepted U.S. aid.

Then they complained about U.S. aid.

Now they refuse a humanitarian visit from Elizabeth Dole.

Wow, are they terrified! Keep up the good work for the cause of Free Iran, Jeff. You deserve
    all the cred you’re getting.

What a pack of idiots. It’s too bad we can’t just say “well, if that’s your attitude, you can’t have the money.” Except that would hurt the wrong people.

Maybe you can ask one of your Iranian blogger friends: is it true that ‘Dole’ is Farsi for ‘penis’? Not that that would be an excuse, but I remember reading somewhere back in 1996 that electing Dole might cause difficulties in relations with Iran for that (purported) reason.

WTF???? Are you serious? There are 30,000 dead! And they don’t want Elizabeth Dole to visit? Big-F-ing deal. So the hundreds of thousands of homeless, grieving and injured are going to feel so much better because Elizabeth Dole visits them? Do they even know who she is? She is not the director of the Red Cross anymore. So just who’s playing politics while people are suffering?
Bush, shortly after the Dec. 26 tragedy, said he was glad the Iranians had accepted U.S. assistance a rare bit of cooperation between the two nations since their relations were broken by the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
But the president added: “The Iranian government must listen to the voices of those who long for freedom, must turn over al-Qaida that are in their custody and must abandon their nuclear weapons program.”
    Jesus, help us.

Out of an area inhabited by approx. 105K they have accounted for approx. 40K, 65K people are still unaccounted for. I don’t care if they refuse a visit from Dole as long as they continue accepting the aide and doctors. This should remain a humanitarian mission.

Hello All, we all know politic for politicians is everything, even when it comes to the humanatirina topics. Iran’s Governement is as guilty as Bush’s. Iran’s Government knows that everthing is temporary and they are still axis of evil. HOwever as an Iranian citizen I am only concerned about the help money and supports. I am sure no one in Bam knows Eliz. Dole and her visit would not be a big help to a girl who lost all his family; like reading READINg LOLITA IN TEHRAn by Azar NAfisi would not help anyone in tehran.
We appreciate the fact that Americans are now in Iran and helping people. We really do appreciate this human to human help. we will never forget.
About my orientalist friend-Amir- who recommend the FOrbiddend Iran : I saw that documentary, listen my friend, I can go to USA and take me camera to the bad dump neighbour hood and give the negative report to the whole world. One of my friend who is a journalist is London told me that these documentaries is fact but far from real daily life. It happens anywhere in the world in a different way. please do some research before promoting something my dear fellow

I remember when the Chicago flood happened in the early 90s and the city managed to function in an orderly fashion and get people home in a reasonable time frame each day– until about the 3rd day when Dan Quayle came to inspect efforts, and the Secret Service closed the streets and everything went to hell. Nobody got home til 9:00.
That’s about how much the Iranians need Elizabeth Dole at this particular moment. I swear. on the day of Armageddon, the last thing my charred corpse will see before damnation is an official party led by the Secretary of the Interior, picking through the rubble and posing for the cameras.

It’s clear that tyranny, directly or indirectly, reliably results in profound human suffering.
I question the priorities of a regime that is seeking to become a member of the nuclear club when they don’t even have building codes.
It is ironic that the Iranian government accuses the United States of using humanitarian aid to create a rift between the people and government in Iran. I think the quake itself may open a rift greater than which we could create.

And sending a Republican Senator (along with “an unspecified number of Bush administration officials”) to ‘oversee’ the US side of the relief effort isn’t playing politics? Elizabeth Dole isn’t head of the Red Cross anymore, she has no business going over there just so the White House can get a Bush-friendly photo-op.

However, who else in Congress has the experience she does? Can she not bring a different perspective than some other pol of either party? If not her, then who and why?
And I would prefer an American “overseeing” my aid than some useless leech from the UN or any NGO.
I hope there’s an American flag on every item we send. “A gift from the American people” would also be nice.

This iran4dummies.com character and other blogs similar to it are nothing but stooges for the regime.. The jokes who run these sites justify what the Islamic Clerical Regime does to innocent Iranians by saying that these same criminal acts are also committed by other Governments around the world.. I know.. I am Iranian and I have debated such individuals … this is there tactic.. If you say to them: “How can you defend a regime that hangs innocent men and women by cranes for speaking out.. how can you defend a regime that rapes little girls before they execute them so they don’t go to heavan..” these awful bastards will say “These things happen all around the world just in other ways..”
I highly recommend all of you to stear clear from individuals such as these and don’t believe what they say.. Only a disgusting bunch of fools will defend what this regime has done to the Iranian people over the past 20+ years..
