Auditing tragedy

Auditing tragedy
: The Coalition Provisional Authority releases its Mass Grave Strategy to identify the victims and compile the evidence of Saddam’s genocidal crimes.

: They should send Alternet a copy of the findings so that perhaps they reconsider and add deposing a mass-murdering tyrant to their list of good things that happened in 2003.

Boy, that Alternet list says it all, doesn’t it? Here are the top ten things, translated:
Celebrities spouted leftist inanities (2, 6)
People had parties in the streets a few times (1, 3, 4)
Money was raised shortly before an election (7)
Meaningless symbolic resolutions were passed (8)
Prisoners were released in a few states (5)
The courts and the legislatures functioned as usual (9, 10)
Jeez, the Church of Scientology accomplished more than that this year, and they’re nuts. Good thing a bunch of crusty old guys in suits are there to run the world, if the left’s that sleepy.

We knew of a certain “mass-murdering tyrant” long ago. As for “deposing a mass-murdering tyrant”, it only occurred because of 9-11-01. Weighing the 2, I’d rather 9-11 never happened, and we/you would not even care about Hussein the tyrant now.

Oh yeah, LK, all you Amnesty International types who were soooo concerned about Saddam all these years while us fat filthy Repuglicans were just snorting up dot-com cocaine. Well, what happened when somebody with power finally did care about doing something about him, for whatever reasons? You joined the other side! You decided abstract principles and rank partisanship were preferable to actually supporting the idea of doing something about the torture chambers and the rape rooms, because you didn’t like the guy through whom God was working in his mysterious ways. You said no thanks, let’s just ratchet up the sanctions so the people of Iraq can starve a little faster, that’s so much better than getting our hands dirty chasing down the sons of bitches with guns. History called you and you weren’t home. History won’t forget you for that.

WRT the Bolivia “alternet” good news (4) astute Blog readers will have read the Blogosphere’s Bolivian correspondant’s take on the whole thing. Basically a bunch of thugs took to the streets to protest all sorts of things that were mostly stupid. The president quit and now the new one is doing exactly what the old one did and many people realize that the thugs where in fact thugs.
