Uh-oh
: I’m about to leave my New York City office to go over to my Jersey City office and I read this: “Sources say the threat to New York City possibly involves a female suicide bomber…” Oh, goody, now I’m going to stear clear of every female carrying bags or in baggy clothes, not easy to do a week before Christmas. I hate this.

What can you do? The chances of being near such a bomber in a big city like NYC are very low, and though I’m the first to support vigilance, I tend to think these warnings are overly aggressive. Imagine if you lived in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem — count your lucky stars! =)

I have to agree with Tim. Forget running into any suicide bombers. You’re more likely to get hit by a bus or mugged on the way to the PATH than, no matter what this “surge of information” says. Don’t let (conflicting) government chatter keep you from leading a normal life. There’s plenty of other stuff in this city to be afraid of.

Given that NYC’s crime rate is the lowest in – what? – 40 years? the odds of being blown up by a suicide bomber are still very low (I hope!) but you’re not that likely to get mugged either. -
That’s just swell news. There’s a Jewish song:
The world is a very narrow bridge and the most important
part is
not to be afraid
I think about it when I hear stuff like this. -
You could always try carrying a bomb yourself — after all, what are the odds that there’ll be two bombers in the same spot?

You thrive on conflict, Jeff.
You may say you hate it but your psyche recycles the city’s dense soup of amped emotions, turns them into energy to fuel your many ventures.
People who like it peaceful live in more spacious places where there are long views, birds break the silence and way outnumber the people, and aggression means small wildlife and insects are trying to eat. -

Easy: Just look out for the slim birds. Anyone grossly overweight is American and can probably be trusted.
