Pacific So-called, Alleged, Reputed, Supposed “News” Service
: The PNS lists four questions for Saddam from one Larry Everest. Are they about why and how did he murder hundreds of thousands of his own countrymen? Are they about why he launched wars against his neighbors? Are they about why he tortured and raped and allowed his family henchmen to torture and rape is citizens? Are they about why and how he suppressed any freedom in his country for so long? No, his questions are about only the big, bad CIA.

This could be meat for a Rant. There’s even a Fifth Column category for such rubbish. I just don’t have the energy right now. sigh.

Pardon me, but what good would it do us to know why Saddam did those horrible things? Sounds like you want to psychoanalyze him or something. I couldn’t care less “why” he committed those atrocities. I am presuming that he did what he did because he is an out and out, power-mad lunatic, but having him confirm that through answering your questions will hardly prove anything and is useless.
Now that he’s locked up, which is definitely a good thing, I am much more interested in how OUR COUNTRY might have helped him out. So far the evidence doesn’t look good.
Also, since the ENTIRE PRETEXT of going to war against him was because of his WMD’s and his alleged ties to Al Qaeda, it might behoove us to ask him about that as well, a line of questioning that you somehow managed to omit. I wonder why? -
Of course, horrible, evil America the source of everything wrong in the world. Get over yourself, and find a new argument. That particular one is intellectually bankrupt. On the list of countries complicit in propping up Saddam, America hardly rates in the top 5. Even so, because we made a mistake in the past we aren’t allowed to correct it? I forgot, your goal is to prevent America from ever attempting to anything in the world again, and your argument hopes to shame America into self-loathing and fear of acting.

Not only have you completely missed my point, Finlay, but you’re imputing beliefs to me that I do not hold. I mean, really. Where do you get off saying that my “goal is to prevent America from ever attempting to anything (sic) in the world again”?
Talk about intellectually bankrupt! Let’s call someone on the carpet for something he didn’t say!
Get a grip. -
Travis: The US Government does not work for Saddam Hussein, and Saddam Hussein is not a significant member of any US Goverments. This means that questions 1, 3 and 4 are simply not questions he can possibly answer. All he can talk about is specific acts by individuals he believes to be from the CIA and other agencies and his beliefs about the overall pattern.
Question 2 demonstrates a significant ignorance of relevent history–for example, the Iran-Iraq war basically began in Sept 1980 (there were a number of events leading up to it including some artilliary exchanges) when Iraq launched air strikes against the Iranian air force. This is months before the election in November, so there can be no possible role involved for the Reagan administration.
As the storming of the US Embassy and taking the personnel hostage is an outright act of war, and given the Carter administrations rather soft response, as well as Carter’s general proclivities in foreign relations, I have severe doubts that the Carter administration would attempt to forment a war. -
Travis D is about as consistent as they get. Always reverts to type. What a maroon.

What the hell are you talking about, Richard Cook?
“Always reverts to type.”
What on earth does that mean, anyway?
Seems as if you’re also reading stuff in my posts that isn’t there.
What is with you people, anyway?
Are you paranoid about something?
