Buy your BlogCards!
: Hugh MacLeod, the artist and ad expert who draws great cartoons on the backs of business cards, is offering to sell you the front of those very cards.

I’m ordering some.

They’re BlogCards. When I go to conferences, confabs, parties, and other fun events where bloggers hang out, I want to hand out a card with my URL (not my office address). I need a BlogCard. So I’m ordering some from Hugh.

I can’t decide whether to get the one above or below. What do you think?

Go here and choose your own from 28 designs (more coming soon)…

I like the top one better.

Jeff…the top one. That’s the one I was gonna choose too!

This is really creepy. I’ve come back to this post three times in the last ten minutes and each time you’ve changed the format of the post. I feel like I’m watching over your shoulder while you write.

It happened again. Is this a program of some kind or is there a person doing that?

    Apologist:
I was trying to figure out the damned formatting and refreshing. Work in progress. Art isn’t easy. Putting it together. Bit by bit. You get the picture.
    I think I’m done now…

I like what you settled on. It gives an implicit endorsement to my favorite cartoon. I’m assuming of course that the black background/white lettering is the other side of the card whatever the cartoon ends up being.

Thanks for the mention, Jeff :)
The ‘magazine’ one is certainly more edgy, especially coming from a mensch in big media.
    This is my one.

These designs may fit New Yorkers, but they’re not quite right for a lot of the rest of the country. Just a thought. But the idea of a blog card is pretty neat.

Bet: Go to the site and pick another design. I picked designs that are appropriate for New Yorkers because, well, I am one.

I vote for “I have NY.”

I like the top one too!
Oddly enough I dragged a girl from one of the offices I worked for out to dinner with a friend of mine from London. I also invited a few creative people he could meet because he was looking for business cards, letterhead the whole nine. Networking between friends. Half an hour in she perks up and askes if he’s seen gaping void. She pitched for you. She saw your ad on ad rants. He left with your website and she left with his number. It’s a small strange world.

    Ha. Great story, KMK. Cool.
Well, the idea behind the blogcards is autobiographical, going back to my New York days… basically I didn’t like the ones my company issued me, so I started making my own.
I found the more “out there” the design, the better the feedback. I mean, people get “VP Sales & Marketing, Cuthbert, Tiddles & Grub” bizcards all the time, so why not take the well-established ritual and have some fun with it?
Basically the blogcards do offline what blogs do online- put one’s info out there, in a more fun and interesting way than normal channels.

I find you to be a very prolific writer. I have to admit I check Jeff’s site a few times a day to see what the buzz is and check the comments too to see if you’ve written anything. I like the media monster overview.

Top one. Lurve Howard. And, lurve you.

Thanks, Jeff. I did go look at all the designs. :) They’re neat, funny, but still sorta all “big city” to me. Or more likely, I’m hopelessly provincial. But I’m sure he’ll get lots of business. It’s a great idea.

    Hi Bet,
    Thanks for the kind words.
I know what you’re saying. Still, it’s lucky they’re called “Blogcards”, not “Rest Of Country Cards” ;-)

Hugh’s cards are hilarious! My personal favorite is the card comparing the life of a sheep to that of a wolf.
His cards have captured every phase of my life, except this one. There is life after leaving Metropolis, you know.
I am sure as Hugh gets older, he will find subjects that resonate with the increasing number of older bloggers. When he does, I will be first in line to order his cartoons to adorn the other side of my existing blog business cards.

Thnaks, David. I’ve been living the post-metropolitan life for 2-3 years now. I think “sheep vs wolf” argument is valid in the boonies, as well.
