Don Denton

Don Denton
: My blog mob leader, Nick Denton and Gawker Media, gets good press in the New York Times today where it matters: in the business section. Andrew Ross sorkin wrote a good piece. And I survived being quoted. Nick survives a lead pegged to Paris Hilton and Fleshbot. But Meg Hourihan may not survive looking so studiously interested (or is it painfully skeptical) as she listens to Denton.

: Other big news in the Times business section today: Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay, invests untold millions in Scott Heifferman’s MeetUp.

: And Tony Perkins just can’t stay out of trouble.

Not to worry, you sounded like a true technorati expert.

Thanks for the link, Jeff. I already blogged about it (click my link below if you feel like it):
“Roshan from Radar Magazine makes the point: ‘Inevitably, the rabbit-like proliferation of blogs may pose problems for Nick. The low cost and few barriers that have made blogs an attractive business proposition may turn out to be their undoing, as everyone and their grandmother will soon have a blog.’
“Agreed, Roshan. However, just like the non-online world, though everybody and their grandmother may have a product, not everybody and their grandmother will have a friggn’ BRAND. It’s the Gawker Media brand which will make Nick’s business valuable and interesting long-term, not the selling of Google AdSense crap…”
