Almost a blog

Almost a blog
: I just got email from James Meigs, a colleague from the first days of Entertainment Weekly (later editor of Us and Premiere and now National Geographic Adventure) telling me about a group site called Duck Season that would be a blog if only it linked from a pretty impressive cast of writers, including Stefan Kanfer, Lance Morrow, James Morrow, Priscilla Turner (whom I know as the better half of Harry Stein), Michael Walsh (a former colleague at Time Inc.), and others. Take a read.

    From your friends’ “about” page:
    >>Duckseason.org is staffed by seasoned journalists and new writers armed with intellectual vigor and common sense. Our targets are political and social cant, deceit and hypocrisy, whether on the left or the right, whether in academia, on the pages of newspapers and the screens of the nightly news, or at cocktail parties. We are in nobody’s pocket, belong to no party, no paper, no organization, no sect. What you read here is opinion backed by reason and research. The word “judgmental” has been out of favor for too long. Duckseason.org has brought it back.

I guess if they tried really hard they could’ve been even *more* pretentious … geeze.
