: I’m disappointed. I thought that surely, by now, Drudge would have a leak of the California exit polls.

: Update: Drudge in the early evening (East Coast time): “EARLY AFTERNOON EXIT POLLS SHOW 57% VOTE ‘YES’ FOR RECALL, CAMPAIGN SOURCES TELL DRUDGE REPORT, 47% FOR SCHWARZENEGGER, 34% FOR BUSTAMANTE, 12% MCCLINTOCK…”

He just posted some numbers with the flashing red light, saying Arnold was out in front.

    Way, way in front.
Far enough in front then he seems to have garnered more votes than Davis (if one counts the “no recall” votes as votes for Davis). This was considered something of an important threshold. If Schwartzenegger had won with fewer votes than “no recall” votes cast, then there would have been some caterwauling. Doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen. I mean, the caterwauling will probably happen, but it have the numbers to justify it.
So ends the career — for now — of one of the slimiest politicos I’ve ever witnessed. And so begins a very interesting and perilous experiment.
