G.I. Joe, the movie
: Hasbro announces a deal to create a full-length, live-action movie about G.I. Joe:
“A live-action film will deliver high energy and non-stop excitement to the millions of fathers and sons that share awesome memories of G.I. JOE,” said Brian Goldner, President of Hasbro’s U.S. Toys Segment. “Lorenzo [di Bonaventura, the producer] has an amazing track-record for picking winners in the entertainment industry and we are thrilled at his enthusiasm and approach towards the G.I. JOE brand.”
Well, I guess Iraq is not Vietnam in the public consciousness or a former Warne executive (who oversaw Harry Potter, Matrix, and Scooby Do) would not see soldiers as pop-culture icons.
One wonders, though, what the plot will be: G.I. Joe battles Iraq quagmire…. G.I. Joe worries about U.N. command… G.I. Joe reduced to playing cop in Iraq… G.I. Joe uncovers weapons of mass destruction…. [via PR Bop]
