We’re live! We’re local! We love you! You love us!

We’re live! We’re local! We love you! You love us!
: Lost Remote, the great TV news weblog, points us to a hilarious compilation of local TV news slogans. A sampling:

: “Close to Home”

: “Straightforward. To the Point.”

: “Your Weather Authority”

: “We’ve Got You Covered”

: “Coverage You Can Count On”

: “We’re Always Building Our Station Around You”

: “It’s About Time”

: “Always Coverage You Can Count On”

: “First. Live. Local.”

: “Dedicated. Determined. Dependable.”

How about: “Cute anchors!”

One of the local stations has the motto “Straight to the Point.” In a notable blooper, one of their newsreaders dropped the f-bomb on camera, thinking they weren’t on the air. Now, whenever I run across their slogan, all I can think of is “Straight to the F***ing Point!”
    Now THAT is a slogan.
(sorry about the editing; not sure what the Buzzmachine policy on profanity is.)

Well, obviously they can’t describe the actual content or we’d get “Channel 4 News — interminable teases of stories that last 7 seconds” or something of the sort. Maybe “banter among the anchors is more important than the news.”
