It’s been almost two years and yet watching the images from the video on the Times website was like a punch to the stomach.
Oh yeah, the guy who filmed it and held on to it for two years? He shouldn’t get a dime.

I had to move United 767-200’s, sister aircraft, around the SFO airport at work. There was no escaping the creeps I felt while sitting in the left seat, visions of that last banking turn into the South Tower, making sure he got it all. Goddamn us at United for providing such a good aircraft that day. I was a mechanic. We did keep our aircraft in great shape. Over 6000 mechanics at UAL have been cut since then. I got layed off on Memorial day this year and I’ll never forget or forgive the bastards that did this to us. The most horrific images should be shown in full detail over and over again to our citizens, so that they don’t forget, either. Kill or be killed. Thanks, Jarvis.

Layoffs at UAL are Al-Qaeda’s fault now? There I was thinking it was chronic overcapacity in the aviation industry, coupled with the advent of competent, non-union airlines like Southwest. I stand corrected…

John B.- Southwest Airlines happens to be the most heavily unionized airline going. They just don’t have grifters running the operation. So, you do stand corrected, but perhaps you missed the meaning of my post. By “us” I mean you, too. My job having been lost at an airline since September 11, 2001 is only a punctuation mark on the events of that day and a logical end to the awful feelings I got from being in or around one of those particular aircraft.
    Don’t ever forget.
