No-no words
: Dong Resin writes a convincing nanoessay decrying the self-conscious, self-congratulatory use of the n-word — and the precious habit of calling it the n-word.

Why am I getting a 404 error on your link?

Answered my own question — it seems Dong Resin’s permalinks aren’t working right now. But the homepage works.

Actually, while I pefer “Negro” myself (kinda dates me, huh?), the word “nigger” had at least one [fictional] advantage. I remember a TV play with Sammy Davis Jr. in which he, as a driver for the Red Ball Express, uncovered some Nazi-in-US-uniform infiltrators because they mispronounced it.

Apologies for the bad link and it-seemed-funny-at-the-time rude 404 message. I guess Blogger had a mispublish.
This link works properly. -
I absolutely cannot believe I found your comment. I remember seeing this play on TV when I was a kid (late 50;s I think) I searched everything Sammy Davis ever did on TV and came up empty. I searched Playhouse 90, Westinghouse, Errol Flynn Theater and on and on and on. Do you know who did the play and if it perhaps if it can be located in the Museum of Broadcasting in New York:?
