French pornography
: Merde in France reports that a Frenchman — of course — is turning the story of the World Trade Center into pornography and Michele speaks for the rest of us.

Now, finally, other people understand why I find the movies “Titanic” (and others) so wholly vile! Never again will I have to explain why I think it’s grotesque that millions of people flocked to that movie.

Well, that’s an interesting point. I never felt that way about Titanic although I did feel that way about Life Is Beautiful.
What I think might be offensive though is that it appears as if the writer is denigrating the victims. At least Titanic was a moving tragedy that tried to humanize the victims (except for a little class warfare and digs against the evil plutocrats and robber barrons). The concept of a novel in the WTC before the collapse is not inherently offensive. It’s the attitude of the author that pegs our outrage meters. We might be opening ourselves up to criticism for judging the book before we’ve read it. But I think we all have a pretty good idea what the book will be like.

I agree with Tokyo. Titanic would equal this story if everyone was humping eachother as the Titanic sank. I wouldn’t be offended if someone used 9/11 as a backdrop for a novel. The fact that this man somehow imagines that sex was what would be on anyone’s mind as they smother and burn to death is sick. It trivializes what happened or makes it a joke in my opinion. The truth is those people in “Windows on the World” suffered the worst kind of end to their lives I can imagine and it breaks my heart that they suffered. To make light of it is sick and offensive.

I suppose they’re chowing down on cheese and
    French wine too?
