I always said the most ignominious was I could imagine to die would be to be struck down by a speeding New York Post truck. This is worse.
How bizarre–yesterday (July 29, 2003) a woman crossing the street was fatally run over by a garbage truck here in Pittsburgh not five blocks from where I’m typing this. Ignominious, yes, but above all simply tragic.
