The masters of publicity
: So Howard Dean is supposed to be guest-blogging on Lawrence Lessig’s weblog. Two masters of publicity meet. I’m positively shrugging in anticipation.

Who knows, it might be interesting. What interests me more is that photo Lessig has of himself on his blog. What are we supposed to read from it? Great mind at work? I’m a busy man, don’t interrupt me–oh, no: here comes a migraine?
You’re photo is at least on the jovial side, Jeff. Almost Grandfatherly. Lessig looks like the cashier whose line you want to avoid at Starbucks. He’ll make a face like what you ordered was a crappy choice and then say something in French or German to a co-worker and they’ll laugh and laugh and laugh. And you’ll have this terrible feeling that they’re laughing at you. Because they are.
Of all the pics in his photo album he chooses that one? I don’t know. I’m stumped. -
Grandfatherly?!?!?
I keep telling you: It’s prematurely gray, damnit! -
Eh, you don’t look grandfatherly per se… more like… you look like the sweet college professor who looks vaguely grandfatherly. You are at least one step removed from grandfatherly. How’s that?

Next week Thomas Jefferson will be guest blogging, from the dead, on my site. He tells me the focus will be on the thesis, “How did these parasitic nematodes ever get in my Party?”
