I (Love) NY

cattelan.gifI (Love) NY
: Greg Allen gives us the latest in fashion (only 48 made, each for $100, one size only): The I (Love) NY

t-shirt (as opposed to the Salam Pax t-shirt… see next post) by Maurizio Cattelan at Chelsea’s Printed Matter.

: To all my new-found Iranian blog friends — is that what the shirt really says? Elizabeth Spiers (who actually knows something about this… she’s impressive in many, many ways!) isn’t sure.

Only the first word (before the heart) is meaningful (ana means I in Arabic). The other word that is supposed to stand for New York is not readable at all.

To my untrained eye, the New York on this shirt looks very similar to the New York on this OTHER tshirt: That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Maurizio intentionally used an illegible script on his work…

Now I, too, am in awe of Elizabeth Spiers, by the way.

That’s going to be a very pointed shirt when it gets wet.

No, not th’same… ny646 much closer to a transliterated “New York.”

Nope. As stated by others earlier, the “new york” part of the shirt is anything but that.

Yeah, wow is that “New York” bad…
More like “SZBK” (no vowels are shown)…Although not really an “S” or a “B”. Click the link for what it should have been.: Ana Bahib New York. Look at it and you can see where he got the idea, but the artist pulled it off real poorly.
I wouldn’t be caught dead in such a stupid shirt. “I’m some odd type of moron.” is what it says to me.

I know this is late, but it is really a “B”, I meant to say it’s not really a “Z”.
