The wrong question

The wrong question
: For two mornings now, Katie Couric has tried with what would pass for subtlety in a neon factory to ask people who could only speculate whether Elizabeth Smart was molested by her kidnapper.

Shame on you, Katie.

It is none of your business and none of our business.

Patricia Hearst said it brilliantly this morning when she was interviewed (by Matt Lauer) on Today. She said that the parents should never allow their daughter to testify at the trials. There is no need to ever ask whether there was sexual assualt; the kidnap charges will be enough to put these slime away for life. The family and the prosecutors should not subject young Elizabeth to these painful, public questions. Ever. Hearst said only pedophiles would want to know what happened to her.
