Vlogging advances
: Just got email from Glenn Reynolds admitting that he ordered the video software I touted the other day with my first two vlogs. It just looks like too much fun, he says. And he’s right. Glenn warned me that bandwidth would be a problem and he was right about that, too; but he has unlimited bandwidth.
I tell you all this only to shame Glenn into actually using it.
I’ll watch the Instashow, won’t you?

When I read Mr. Reynold’s post about your entry into vlogging, I had one of those heart-sinking moments in which one realizes that the innovative idea that had to wait for the acquisition of certain Christmas presents had been claimed by another.
I’m sure you’ve thought of this, but in my opinion, the real justification for the additional bandwidth and effort on the parts of both the vlogger and the visitors is not the novelty of seeing the blogger nor merely still images (HTML has that). The usefulness of it — beyond niftiness — comes with there being something worth seeing.
The Trent Lott fiasco would have lent itself to that. Even after days of blog entries on the topic, I had to grudgingly go in search of the CSPAN video online. Another obvious application would be the video fisking (visking?) of a Michael Moore film, for example.
At any rate, I think we’re a ways off from vlogging being as simple and accessible as blogging. But keep up the trailblazing.
