: NewsDesigner.com has tons of excerpts from newspaper ombudsmen (ombudspersons?) on the publishing of photos of mutilated, murdered Americans in Fallujah.
I don’t see news web sites similarly gazing at their navels. There are a few reasons for this: First, most can’t afford ombudspeople. Second, the web gives people the option of clicking to find more… or not. In a one-size-fits-all newspaper, one has to deal with some large portion of the population that will be offended by many decisions. On the web, you can put that decision in control of the reader.
