: Steve Outing points us to MSNBC’s attempt at hip campaign coverage: They are “embedding” correspondents in the campaigns and having them do “weblogs.” OK, but back in the day, big news organizations assigned correspondents to individual campaigns; they just didn’t call this “embedding.” And those correspondents sent in regular reports and notebooks (which is all they’re doing now: news, sans links); they just weren’t called “weblogs.”

I don’t mean to take anything away from MSNBC; aggressive reporting is good.

But if they really wanted to be cool, they might have found nine non-pros, nine bloggers, and “embedded” them in the campaigns — with constant wireless access so they could interact with the world — to get a new perspective on old news. Now that would be worthy of buzz.
