Well, I just left this in response to that post:

Apparently the only solution that any of you offered was American Chap’s proposed solution of “Force all of the Zionists to pick up and move elsewhere and give the land back to it’s rightful owners!”

As one who was against this war before it started, I look now and see a withdrawal based upon a set timeframe is sheer luancy. What happens if our leaving results in a full scale civil war in which tens or hundreds of thousands more are slaughtered? What happens if the entire Middle East then erupts in a Sunni vs. Shiite battle? Arab vs. Kurd? Kurd vs. Turk? Arab vs. Persian?

The plan to get-out-now shows about the same level of planning that Bush and Co. took to set this whole fiasco in place.

First, about winning elections: It can’t hurt too much. Civility is overrated, especially when it becomes a tool to bludgeon you into silence. Also, you don’t know what you’re talking about. At all.

Two: The DKos and FDL crowd were pumped up and said really nasty stuff about Lieberman (“Rape Gurney Joe”, which was catchy). That’s true.

It’s because what you wrote was stupid, Jeff. Let me remind you:

The movement in Connecticut did not support Lamont, it opposed Lieberman. Lamont is a cipher, like Robert Redford in The Candidate. I have feared that the left has made its mark these last six years by being against and not being for. I am eager to hear the winning strategy in Iraq and the Middle East — and I do not count leaving alone as a strategy — and the winning strategy against terrorism and Islamic totalitarianism.

That’s wrong, wrong and wrong, duder.

1) How much time have you spent in CT over the last month? You’re repeating a media narrative that’s largely superficial.

2) The “Left” is for all sorts of nice things, but since the “Left” has absolutely no political power at the national level we’re left in the position of being an opposition wing. Heaven forbid we should oppose colossal mistakes which are putting our future at risk.

3) Disengagement is a perfectly valid strategy for Iraq. It’s much more sensible than building permanent bases.

I hope enjoy the conservative backslaps, It’s not quite as nice as “credibility,” but what are you gonna do?

Where do you find decency in his continued support for this moronic adventure in Iraq?

Where do you find decency in his flippant observation that rape victims can just go to another hospital “a couple miles down the road” if the one she’s in won’t give her day-after pills because of religion.

He got Karl ROVE’S endorement and support. That should give you some insight as to his lack of character.

Hey, let him run as a Republican. That’s certainly what the GOP is hoping for, as they won’t endorse the actualy Republican candidate.

Penny, What is good and decent about knowingly advocating support for an organisation that fronts for al-Qaida? That is what Lieberman has been doing.

If those who voted against him are guilty (as he asserts), of giving comfort to al-Qaida, then how much more is he quilty- as a KLA shill in the Senate – of the same.

He is a hypocrite.

Penny/Jonathan, I have been very specific, and with links on the origninal Lieberman thread, and on this one as well. Unfortunately, Jeff’s server ate my original posting. I am not going to rebuild the previous posts, but I will cut and paste a bit. All of this can be found in more detail (with links) in the comments section of the original post on Lieberman by Jeff.

First what is Lieberman’s position on the al-Qaida front organisation the KLA?

Why call the al-Qaida puppet KLA the only authentic Islamo-fascist organisation?

this Lieberman, who makes a public spectacle of his religious beliefs, who pontificates from a place higher than Morality, this Lieberman fronts for the KLA who are the self-proclaimed heirs to the Balli Kombëtar, the World War II Albanian fascists (3). This Lieberman, who flaunts his Jewishness as if it were a theme park, to the disgust of many Jews, including the writers of this article, this Lieberman fronts for the descendents of the very people who murdered nearly every Jew in Kosovo.

But please note: since being put in power by NATO and the UN, Senator Lieberman’s beloved KLA has driven from Kosovo those Jews who managed not to be killed by the Balli Kombëtar during W.W. II, driven them out along with their descendents. That is, his KLA has completed the job of producing a judenfrei ‘KosovA.’

One final note. The ‘Bosnians” whom Sen. Lieberman is so proud of having championed were already being secretly armed and trained by the U.S. at the time he proposed legislation to openly arm them and train them. This seems to be a pattern with Lieberman.

Bin Laden had visited Albania himself. He was one of several fundamentalist groups that had sent units to fight in Kosovo, … Bin Laden is believed to have established an operation in Albania in 1994 … Albanian sources say Sali Berisha, who was then president, had links with some groups that later proved to be extreme fundamentalists. 10

Another link to bin Laden is the fact that the brother of a leader in an Egyptian Jihad organization and also a military commander of Usama bin Laden, was leading an elite KLA unit during the Kosovo conflict. 12

And, more:

While the various Congressional reports confirmed that the US government had been working hand in glove with Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda, this did not prevent the Clinton and later the Bush Administration from arming and equipping the KLA. The Congressional documents also confirm that members of the Senate and the House knew the relationship of the Administration to international terrorism. To quote the statement of Rep. John Kasich of the House Armed Services Committee: “We connected ourselves [in 1998-99] with the KLA, which was the staging point for bin Laden…” 13

In 1999, Senator Jo Lieberman had stated authoritatively that “Fighting for the KLA is fighting for human rights and American values.” In the hours following the October 7 missile attacks on Afghanistan, the same Jo Lieberman called for punitive air strikes against Iraq: “We’re in a war against terrorism… We can’t stop with bin Laden and the Taliban.” Yet Senator Jo Lieberman, as member of the Armed Services Committee of the Senate had access to all the Congressional documents pertaining to “KLA-Osama” links. In making this statement, he was fully aware that that agencies of the US government as well as NATO were supporting international terrorism.

Finally, here’s something not in my original post:

There are clear indications of the importance of the “Albanian Initiative”, i.e., the Iranian penetration into Albania. The meeting of the Iranian Supreme Economic Council at the beginning of 1998, dealt exclusively with the situation in Albania. The Council vice-chairman Bezavah Navabi, the new trustee for the coordination of the public social-economic initiative in Albania, took part in the meeting, along with other influential officials – Mohsen Nurbakan – governor of the Iranian Central Bank, as well as the prime figures of the relevant Iranian institutions and ministries. Furthermore, Navabi was instructed to coordinate the work and the activities with the Iranian intelligence structures. He suggested that a long term plan be drafted and launched to promote three Iranian long-term objectives in Albania:

Mohsen Nurbakan instructed those banks to invest in Albania regardless of poor profit and business risk factors. Officials of the Iranian financial intelligence are deployed in all Teheran’s institutions in Albania and cooperate closely with the operatives of the Intelligence Affairs Ministry regarding the financing of terrorist training camps, purchase of arms and military equipment, “money laundering” and other activities.
