The victims have no problem calling them terrorists

: The BBC — which just went out of its way to call “terrorist” a bad wordreports that Arab media is (finally) seeing Iraqi “insurgents” for what they are: murderers. Meanwhile, the witnesses and victims know what they really are: terrorists.

Al Jazeera – often accused by the Americans of stirring anti-US feeling – has adopted less of an “Us and Them” approach.

The militants are no longer referred to as the “resistance” but as gunmen or suicide bombers.

Eyewitnesses are shown denouncing them as “terrorists” – condemnations that are echoed by a parade of Iraqi officials and religious authorities.

Signs of progress…they’re acknowledging reality, but sill with the “but it’s America’s fault” caveat at the end. After all, this is the Beeb! :)

One good thing about all the dead iraquis is that there hasn’t been a suicide bombing in Israel. I wonder if they are happy to see that the terrorist just don’t hate the “Jews” or the “US” or “Western Civilization” but they hate anyone who disagree with their agenda. That includes moderate Arabs/muslims/hindus/etc.

There’s so much wrong with this statement that I don’t even know where to begin.

They did more than just call them the “resistance”. They aired daily man-on-the-street quotes with virulently anti-American comments from Iraqis and other Arab nations. At one point I counted 26 straight anti-American quotes from the public. An impressive run of similar opinions.
Even worse, Al Jazeera became so popular with the terrorists, they had their own contacts with the network that sped hostage and bombing videos from production to air.
At some point, a critical analysis of how Al Jazeera aided the terrorist insurgency in Iraq will have to be made. Maybe CBS and Newsweek are up for it?

Umm… yes,Cog,but I agree with Patricia’s comment on “Signs of progress..”.
If Al Jazeeera can change it’s tune, there’s hope. And I’m getting just a touch tired of the “past sins” memes from both sides. Things change. Get used to it.
