: Now this is funny. From Newsweek via Lost Remote:

When President Bush confronted President Putin about freedom of the press in Russian, Putin responded, “We didn’t criticize you when you fired those reporters at CBS.”

Oh, I’m sure Bush was thinking, if only he could fire a few.

    Ya think?
What an amazing statement. Do you think that he can not comprehend how things work over here? And if he did, do you think that he would never agree to Bush’s call to maintain a democracy in Russia?

Million dollar movie – best picture.
Now assisted suicide becomes the hot politically-correct topic.

I’m not surprised that Putin was confused on that point. I’ve noticed a dynamic: the US left exaggerates and fabricates, and it spreads through leftist organs in other nations. These loud, hyperbolic leftist charges then become conventional wisdom internationally.
This has more to do with why we’re more hated abroad than anything Bush has actually done; international hatred for Bush had been ginned up by leftists well before 9/11 and Iraq, which are just better excuses for leftist hate than the simple personal animosity they felt over the close 2000 elections.

Bush had to explain the same thing to one of the Russian reporters didn’t he? I remember him having to say something like “well, that would be up to the executives of the company that the reporter worked for, not me…”. So there is obvisously more than one person that shares that incomprehension…

Carsonfires hatred of the left has him blaming them for all our ills. This administration has never met a dollar they didn’t try to secure for their corporate masters. Unless your are part of top 5% you have been helping the other side.

Putin is former KGB, just as Bush is a product of his father’s CIA heritage. Both of them know how things really work.
Witness the Gannon/Guckert saga – where’s the outcry on that? What about Bush’s wireless bulge in the debates – even NYT was scared to run the story!!!
You really think you have a free press??? So why are you reading blogs like this – to get your information???

What is this, attack of the wierdo’s night?

“Bush is a product of his father’s CIA heritage.”
How, covert conception? Baby W was first pulled out of Barbara’s classified briefs?
And how does W’s *dad* heading the CIA make W equivalent to Putin who was *in* the KGB *himself*?
And what point are you trying to make about that anyway? There must be a CIA; there must be people in the CIA; there must be people running the CIA. Why does that need to be made to sound despicable, to have a father who was once head of the CIA?
Sorry if it seems like I “hate” leftists; I don’t. I just don’t like politics based on angry derision and universal contempt. Rants like ganhi’s are a good example; I have no reason to hate ganhi, but I dislike the foolish things he says and the anger that spurs him to say them; these sorts of statements don’t promote honest debate or provide enlightenment, they are only meant as verbal spit hocked at political rivals.
