Now this is press transparency

: The Times (of NY) rounds up all the sex scandals at The Spectator in London:

“Someone should bottle that magazine’s tap water,” wrote The Guardian in an editorial this week, referring to the three erotic scandals that have enveloped The Spectator in recent months, involving, among others, its editor, associate editor, publisher, former receptionist, one of its columnists and the home secretary.

I keep saying we need to humanize journalism here. So that’s what we need: Some good, juicy, public affairs!

: Update: The editor in question, also an MP, has a blog (thanks to the commenter)

Boris Johnson (the Spectator editor who just got sacked from the Conservative shadow cabinet) is one of only 6 MPs to have a weblog. Check it out. A couple of us have linked to Buzzmachine in his comments and suggested that he reads the likes of you to widen the discussion on e-democracy.

I thought all that was being covered over at Wonkette ;-)

    Thanks for the update, Jeff.
Can anyone point me to blogs by serving senators or representatives, or other national/state/local/foreign politicians?
The only congressman I am aware of with a blog is Mike Pence (R-Indiana 6th), but that seems to be mostly press releases, and columns also published elsewhere.
Gary Hart’s effort seems to have ground to a halt.

Actually, there are seven British MPs who blog, plus a small bundle of local level politicians and party candidates. Some of the seven are very infrequent and at least one wants registration etc for commenting which rather undoes the whole notion of politicians blogging in order to create new channels of discourse.

Cheers Mags, I discounted Austin Mitchell because he hadn’t updated for ages, but he seems to be back now.
I agree, his registration process is ridiculous. I just tried to set up an account, the login for which I intend to post on BugMeNot for all to use. But I have yet to hear back that I have received validation from the moderators. Crazy…so much for spontaneous dialogue. His design is awful as well.
