Technorati in the news

Technorati in the news

: Mary Hodder reports that Technorati and founder Dave Sifry will be going to the convention to provide commentary on the commentary of bloggers for CNN.

CNN just announced that Technorati will joining them at the Democratic National Convention next week (I’ll have a CNN press release to link to soon). Dave Sifry and I will be on-site in CNN

  • Michael Zimmer

So blogging (and all its lauded benefits) will be re-mediated, filtered and appropriated through the lens of mainstream TV media. Are you sure this is such a good thing?

  • T. Wolfe

“Great news for Technorati and blogs.”
    I hope so.
I hope Dave is allowed to convey some of
the depth of weblogs in his “regular on-air
commentary”, rather than the kinds of sound
bites CNN reads from viewer emails.
I also hope Dave is cut out for this.
Can the CEO of a tech firm (with iffy technology
at that) out-wonk Wonkette? We’ll see.
    Good luck Dave!

Sorry, but it ain’t gonna happen. The very nature of CNN (and all TV news) is the sound bite. The medium will kill the message.

Then bloggers will be commenting on Technorati’s comments on the credentialed bloggers comments about the comments of the convention goers and candidates.

Well, I hope I’ll do right by all of you. Remember, I’m going to be talking to the 97% of the world out there that haven’t heard of weblogs yet – so don’t be surprised to hear a lot of “what exactly is a blog anyway?” questions.
Of course, please post here if you have any suggestions on things you’d love to hear spoken to a national CNN audience…
    Dave

CNN will only corrupt Blogging! Should not have to get into the convention through them. The mainstream media looks to control subject matter. Just the opposite of Blogs.
    Thanks

It may be the media equivalent of tearing down Jamie Gorelick’s wall between the CIA and FBI. In this case, it’s the wall between what Jeff calls “Media Man” and “Blogger Boy.”
One small step for CNN, one giant leap for bloggerkind*
