Sand Nazis

Sand Nazis

When I heard the horrid news about Nick Berg’s murder in Iraq, I wondered what I’m sure many of you wondered: Was he Jewish? Was that why these sand Nazis selected him for murder as they did Daniel Pearl.

Blogger Steven I. Weiss reports in the Forward that Berg was, indeed, Jewish and becoming more observant recently. A friend told Weiss:

Spool told the Forward that

  • hen

Jeff – As i posted earlier, Nick WAS a jew, as was Danny Pearl. There is no doubt that these animals once they found this out, and no doubt they did, knew exactly what they were going to do with him once that info was determined.
Why is it that there is world wide breast beating over what happened in the Iraqi prison, when Nick Berg’s brutal, disgusting murder, the mutilation of 6 IDF soldiers the other day (with videotape of the IslmaoNazis) playing soccer with a soldiers head and the cold blooded point blank murder of a pregnant Israeli woman and her four young daughters barely moves the details of Kobe’s hearings down a minute from the head news?
Simple. The American and world wide media does not care a whit about the death of Americans or Jews and will use any thing to make a case for moral equivalence or to show how evil we Americans are.
Absolutely disgusting and foul, and individuals such as Kennedy, Byrd and the rest of the anti American politicians have a lot to explain for.

  • anon

War is ultimately uncivilized? Why would you think we’re good and they’re bad? Depravity lurks in the hearts of men. Domination is ugly. War is failure.

  • Jim G.

    anon,
“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling that thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” …. John Stuart Mill.
That’s all I have to say.

  • Andy B

    Well said Jim

  • hen

“War is failure.” Tell that to the Jews who were freed from the death camps due to war; tell that to the Chinese who escaped the brutal occupation by Japan due to war; tell that to the S Koreans who live in economic prosperity due to the US intervention and war with the Communist N Koreans.
Why wd be think we are good and they are bad? Because we don’t slice their heads off to boost our enlistment coffers; because we don’t fly our planes into their buildings for the sole purpose of killing as many civilians as possible; because while we try to rebuild their neglected and failing society, they seek to destroy ours and any modernity in the world.
    What an idiot.

  • http://www.doctorweevil.org Dr. Weevil

We don’t actually think we’re “good”. We are the usual mixture of good and evil, struggling to achieve more good than evil, and often failing. They (not all Muslims, but the ones who do these things) are just plain evil, they wallow in it and take pride in it. It’s a fight between fair-to-middling and evil, and we don’t have to pretend to be perfect and without fault to oppose evil.

Why is it that there is world wide breast beating over what happened in the Iraqi prison, when Nick Berg’s brutal, disgusting murder, the mutilation of 6 IDF soldiers the other day (with videotape of the IslmaoNazis) playing soccer with a soldiers head and the cold blooded point blank murder of a pregnant Israeli woman and her four young daughters barely moves the details of Kobe’s hearings down a minute from the head news?
i agree there needs to be more media outrage, but one reason may be this: we EXPECT this of the terrorists. we do not expect depraved, disgusting behavior from americans. therefore it was more shocking.

  • Pete Sandel

Sorry. Didn’t even occur to me to wonder if Mr. Berg was Jewish.
    Like it matters?

  • hen

Pete it matters insofar as this: Let’s start calling these Nazis, Nazis, as Jeff has suggested.

  • http://amomentwith.typepad.com/ Easycure

For some reason it hadn’t even occurred to me to wonder about being Jewish. Thanks for pointing that out. It doesn’t make the crime any worse, per se, because a murder is a murder; but it sure does shed light on the killers motive or possible motive.
Hate is our enemy, and we are fighting it at all fronts, at home and abroad.

There’s something else going on here in the background: the Loony Left is engaged in a campaign to depict the Israelis/Jews/Protocols as evil antagonists. Jews have just about replaced djinns and often are imbued with magical qualities. It may be their version of comic books.
Prof Juan Cole pointed with a link to such a “speculative” article on his blog yesterday which I commented on at my blog.

  • gwill

“there’s a better chance than not that they knew he was Jewish”
-is there some type of Jewish radar I’m not familiar with?

  • Michael

Calling them “nazis” is much to reductive and simplistic. Its the easy way out, ignoring any of the structural issues involved with fundamentalist reactions to the spread of Western culture. Someone, please go read the 3 books put out by Verso Press by Virilio, Boudrillard and Zizek. Please, challenge yourself to get a deeper understanding of this problem.

  • Franky

While Berg as a name is a giveaway, I get the feeling they didn’t know, only because I think they would have made it a bigger deal in his murder as they did Pearl, you know the usual retarded speech about zionists.
However, who the hell cares? he was murdered in a way no one deserves

  • Kat

They are worse than Nazis. At least Nazis put on uniforms and didn’t hide their heads in sacks. We knew who the enemy was–with islamofascists we are fed lies and allow them to build terror temples in our midst.
A newly published (2004) over-one-thousand page long hardcover book by Craig Winn is an absolute MUST READ . “Islam’s Terrorist Dogma In Muhammad’s Own Words”. Winn invested over 10,000 hours in pursuit of the unadulterated truth about Islam :
Islam is a caustic blend of regurgitated paganism and twisted Bible stories. Muhammad, its lone prophet, conceived his religion solely to satiate his lust for power, sex, and money. He was a terrorist. If you think these conclusions are shocking, wait until you see the evidence. The critics of this work will claim that Prophet of Doom is offensive, racist, hatemongering, intolerant, and unnecessarily violent. I agree–but I didn’t write those parts. They came directly from Islam’s scriptures. If you don’t like what Muhammad and Allah said, don’t blame me. I’m just the messenger.

  • button

    gwill:
    yes ;-)

  • Franky

hahahahahah Muhammad a terrorist. Sorry but this is too funny. So how are you going to now go and define who was a terrorist in the 8th century? Go read your Old Testament and please helpfully tell us who were the terrorists and who were not (and please include your obviously well thought-out methodology).

  • Kat

Here you are, Franky. Happy reading. Have a nice day.
    http://answering-islam.org/Silas/terrorism.htm

  • anne.elk

Sand nazis? Jeff, that is a really disgusting choice of words. What the hell prompted you to come up with that?

  • Franky

Yeah, it was a stupid choice of words Jeff. Not only is there no connection with Nazis (we can have more than one set of enemies you know: nazis, Islamic fundamentalists, totalitraist communists etc etc, we don’t have to return to Hitler everytime).
And the not so subtle evocation of the racist taunt “sand nigger” is just totally inappropriate (unless I’ve horribly misjudged you, in that case I offer my absolute unconditional apology).
Kat, I asked you to identify who were terrorists in the Old Testament. I believe the commonly accepted definition of terrorism is attacking civilian populations in order to acheive your stated political/religious goals. That sort of includes most of the tribes and people in the Old Testament.

  • Mustapha

So Jarvis has his panties in a bother, and is resorting to racist allusions with the “sand nazi” slur? Funny how he tried so hard to ignore the prisoner abuse scandal.
When individual Muslim loonies kill civilians it’s bad by Jarvis, but when US government soldiers acting under general Pentagon orders commit arocities it’s not a big deal.
And you wonder why the rest of the world hates you?
The US is a terrorist nation.

  • Kat

Franky, pull your head out of your camel’s ass and understand that we follow the teachings of Jesus–a kind loving man who taught tolerance, unlike the die by the machete, guy.
If you want to pursue this Old Testament angle, then I am forced to tell you that muslims took the killing part of the OT and Christians took the love. Does that explain it?
Christianity underwent a Reformation–islam is still mired in the Dark Ages.
Yes, Mustapha, we are a terrorist nation–we have the likes of you here–like your 19 compadres of 911–just waiting for allah’s call.

  • Mike

General Pentagon orders? That’s a rather caustic accusation. Care to back that up with any facts?
And individual Muslim loonies, are you trying to say that every terrorist act is by an individual Muslim lunatic with no connections to any organization or other person or persons?
I suppose Al Queda is a figment of our imagination. It is not a group with a set agenda to prop up fundamental Islamic teachings and kill Americans, right?
    Give us a break Mustapha.

  • Franky

What about the foundations of the Jewish religion and some of the Jewish tribes? pretty violent and unforigiving if I remember correctly? where’s your link to the inherent violence of judaism?
The fact is that with the possible exception of the Buddahs, every religion’s founding has been a violent affair.
You want to talk about dysfunction today, fair enough it’s an argument islamists have to answer, but don’t start reading your history on the web and then start launching in to diatribes about Islam was violent from the beginning, like none of ours weren’t either.

  • Kat

Yes, Franky, the muslims have a bloody past–but I am not fighting the Fez bloodbathers or the decapitators of the 7th century. I am talking about now–the atrocities you condone today in the name of allah. When will this God forsaken ‘religion’ come out of the Dark Ages?

  • Franky

Where did I condone atrocities? You better come up with quotes and links, or you’re a dirty liar who deserves to be listened to as much as any other liar. The only thing one has on the web is their reputation and I’m saying you should have a reputation as a liar on the basis of that last post.

  • roberto

Oh, come on–the minute they pulled down his pants and/or read his name on his passport, the executioners knew he was a Jew. While they might not have selected himn for his religion, I’m sure they were thrilled down to the tiniest part of their vile bodies to learn they had an American Jew. Nuke ‘em.

  • Kat

You condone it by finding excuses–by searching far and wide trying to blame Christianity or Judaism and missing the real culprit here–islam. The blood of their victims is on the hands of all you apologists .
And BTW if Budhists are peaceful, why do muslims murder them to this day? Hmmmm?

  • Franky

to laugh at your assertion that muhammed was a terrorist is to condone islamic atrocities?
That’s what I thought a filthy liar and you just got caught.
Don’t ever talk to me again. I have no time for liars in any part of my life, online or off.

  • Angelos

Kat, when you say “we” follow Jesus, please be sure to specify that “we” means people who can’t think for themselves.
How many millions of deaths over centuries are directly attributable to organized religions and their varied dogmas?
When will people realize that religions were created by the powerful to control the hoi polloi, by instilling in them irrational fear of fictional omniscient and omnipotent beings?
Your peaceful Christianty just doesn’t add up, and any notion you have of being superior to some other delusional fool of a different persuasion is unwarranted. You’re all certifiable.

  • DRW

Very amusing to lurk and see that Franky just assumed that Kat was Jewish and is now pathetically flailing about now that his Jew-baiting has exposed him. What a loser.

  • Mike

    Angelos,
Your description of Christianity would be valid if you were making it 2000 years ago. It’s no longer valid today because for the most part it has evolved to realize the error of its ways.
The same can not be said for a large percentage of people following Islam. A religion that refuses to assimilate to modern society and would rather revert back to its strictest teachings. That’s not to say extremists don’t exist within every religion, I’m sure they do. But the radical Islamic extremists are the only ones acting on their warped beliefs.

  • Angelos

Yes Mike, the perpetrators have change throughout the years, but no matter who’s guilty at any particular time, you still wind up with: People who believe in one fairy tale persecute and kill people who believe in a different fairy tale.
Might as well pray to unicorns.
Or, get a grip on reality, and do something more productive on Sunday mornings. Like golf. Or sleep in, have some blueberry pancakes and coffee, and go back to bed and screw the ever-loving shit out of your significant other.
    Now THAT’s religion.

  • Franky

Jesus christ is it national retard day or what?
I mean how do people like DRW manage to accomplish simple taks if they can’t even read properly? Where was I jew-baiting? I said all religions have a violent beginning. ALL religions. Is that clear? I asked about the Old Testament a book that is kind of close to a certain religion called Christianity, and then Kat went to the New Testament. So I decided to see if he was consistent in believiing just because a religion starts violent means it will continue with violence. He wasn’t.
Now If that’s clear, DRW, go screw yourself and die, you prick.
I’m sick of these pro-war people just smearing everyone they disagree with “condoning terrorism” “jew-baiting” because they’re too stupid to have anything even resembling interesting to say. They’re entire arsenal revolves around launching the worst possible smear and then never backing it up, praying that the dirt will stick. It’s childish, repulsive and about time the blogosphere got past such disgusting tactics.
(Jeff, I apologise for any part in lowering the tone in this forum, but I’ll be goddamed if some puke like DRW is going to call me anti-semitic and get away with it).

  • http://geodog.thebishop.net/ Geodog

Sand Nazi? Now Jarvis is stooping to racisim, having no reasoning left.
I invoke Godwins law — this is last time I will read anything here.

  • Kat

Angelos–only an idiot would blame religion for all the atrocities of the world–I blame all the ‘isms’–the present day one being islamism. But having said that, how do you explain all the non religious atrocities–if we were to tote up the casualty count achieved by those few officially non religious regimes the world has seen, the non religionists have the religionists beat by a mile. Notorious non religion butchers like Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Enver Hoxha and Stalin killed and slaughtered their own people at an unheard-of rate.

  • Kat

(People who believe in one fairy tale persecute and kill people who believe in a different fairy tale.) What fairy tale were your non religionists following, Angie?

  • Kat

And Jeff was not being racist–he simply referred to Nazis who live in deserts instead of Germany. That’s how I took it.

  • superfly

Godwin’s law only applies when the topic does not relate to nazism i.e. You support (or oppose) school vouchers, ergo you are a nazi. People murdering Jews because they are Jews is pretty close to Nazism and it is appropriate to bring it up in that situation.

  • Ptolemy

Muhammed was a caravan pirate for many years. He had a lot of hateful things to say about women and other faiths. The Islamic Ottoman Empire enslaved European Christians for centuries. The Arabs maintained slavery until the Christian British forced them to stop last century. Perhaps terrorist is too strong for Muhammed himself but there is no denying what they’ve done to Byzanines,Persians,Indians,Egyptians,Slavs, and Berbers. But if Nihilism prevents you from seeing history as it is so be it. It is interesting that Stalinists, Nazis, and Islamists all have the same focus of hate — Jews.

  • Ptolemy

Franky, you just CAN’T stop yourself from alluding to people who disagree with you as racists can you? I argued that with you before.

  • Angelos

Well of course you know the answer to that. Or I would hope you do.
“Secular” genocide says “my race is better than your race” instead of “my god is better than your god”.

  • Kat

Oh, I see Angelos–so should we all become good little dhimmi and peace will reign? Or should we rid the world of another ‘ism’?

  • Franky

Ptomely, do you have something to say or not? If you do, spit it out. If not…..
I would like to take this opportuinity to retract my comment on the title “sand nazi”. Having read Jeff there’s no way he could have made such a reference with the racist term for arabs in his mind. It was very low of me to jump to the worst possible interpretation of his words.

  • Zip

What Hen wrote is just crap,
“Jeff – As i posted earlier, Nick WAS a jew, as was Danny Pearl. There is no doubt that these animals once they found this out, and no doubt they did, knew exactly what they were going to do with him once that info was determined.”
It really doesn’t matter if he was a jew or not. Are we supposed to be even more angry that he was? I really couldn’t care less if he was or wasn’t, and it really doesn’t matter.
“Why is it that there is world wide breast beating over what happened in the Iraqi prison, when Nick Berg’s brutal, disgusting murder, the mutilation of 6 IDF soldiers the other day (with videotape of the IslmaoNazis) playing soccer with a soldiers head and the cold blooded point blank murder of a pregnant Israeli woman and her four young daughters barely moves the details of Kobe’s hearings down a minute from the head news?”
From reading that it really seems that you couldn’t care less really about what happened to berg it’s just another tool you can use in your “Outrage over the Outrage” of the Prison toruture. The reason its a big deal is because we are Americans and we DON’T do that.
“Simple. The American and world wide media does not care a whit about the death of Americans or Jews and will use any thing to make a case for moral equivalence or to show how evil we Americans are.”
Here we go with the wingnut responses. I’m surprised you didn’t put in something about some “Liberal Media” conspiracy. I guess showing the iraqi prison pictures offends you because they deserve it?
“Absolutely disgusting and foul, and individuals such as Kennedy, Byrd and the rest of the anti American politicians have a lot to explain for.”
Oh yeah Anti-American Politicians lol thats funny. Thats like saying GWB is responsible for the death of berg. Aren’t you supposed to be with the other freepers?
What you have written I find a little disgusting and offensive. Your Mad because attention was brought to the prison pictures and your using Bergs death to justify it. Your also accusing anyone who is outraged about the torture pic of anti-americanism and anti-semtism. Your also trying downplay what happened in the prison and trying to justify it using the berg murder. You make me sick and comparing the 2 are just making you look more like the people who murdered berg and pearl.

  • Kat

Are you frigging nuts–downplaying the prison stuff by using the Berg decapitation? There is no freaking comparison. Beheading someone is a hell of a lot worse than what happened in that prison. It was horrible beyond description when real torturers ran it for Saddam Hussein. but then it was acceptable because our sanctions made him do it. Where was the outrage from the Arab Street then? And where is the outrage from the Arab Street about Berg? They are predictably silent. Well, not exactly, Mutaz, a Syrian taxi driver working in the United Arab Emirates, said:

  • http://twistedspinster.com/ Andrea Harris

“I invoke Godwins law — this is last time I will read anything here.”
Go, Jeff! (Note to self: use “sand Nazi” to describe our enemies more often. It seems to drive their supporters batty, which is quite amusing.)

  • Zip

Why do some people here Hate America so much that they think its ok to compare a beheading to abuse? Like somehow since terroists beheaded someone in Iraq that we shuold start acting like saddam.

  • http://weblog.burningbird.net Shelley

    Objective journalism? Not any more.
    Congratulations, Little Green Footballs Junior.

  • Kat

Zip–you had better have a chat with Kofi the UN Klown.
    {The U.N. spokesman said, Annan “condemns all killings of innocent civilians in Iraq as he condemns all abuse of prisoners and other violations of international law.}

  • Mike

Zip, I think you have the order of events confused! Our soldiers abused the Iraqi prisoners and were already being charged and investigated and now prosecuted according to U.S. military law. There was no cover-up, there was no breaking story, there were only photographs that the Army did not want released for fear of retribution from those who were holding hostages.
And I hate to tell you this, but our abuse pales in comparison to what Saddam was doing. Of course the savages that did this only used the photos as some sort of relative justification, they would have found some other reason to kill Nick Berg. Those are the people that hate America my friend. The ones that killed Nick Berg. The ones on the video were acting more like Saddam than we were.

  • hen

Zip – clearly you are a moron.
    1) While it doesn’t matter if Berg was a jew or not, don’t you think it’s a little strange, particularly with Daniel Pearl’s decapitation not to long ago, that not a single mention is given to his religion? And can you think of another American who was videotaped and decapitated OTHER then the two jews?
    2) It’s called “perspective”. That is yes a bunch, a handful of idiot soldiers did some stupid and unlawful things and they are being charged. But the teeth gnashing by such luminaries as Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy hardly fits the crime. Moreover, there timid declarations viz Berg pale in comparison to their over the top idiocy about the jail. So yeah i AM outraged over the outrage, because i put things in “perspective”.
    3) Explain to me then, mr asshole, why Koffee Anan spewed about the horrors of the jail, yet uttered not a word of condemnation for Berg’s murder OR for the barbarism that the Arabs perpetrate on Jews just about every day? Ass meet hand.
You are clearly an idiot. You haven’t a moron’s ability to see things logically and intellectually. You refuse to face the simple fact that dead Americans and Jews is meaningless to the world press and Dems unless it can be used as a club to beat the GOP. Ergo you must be a typical liberal coward.

  • ephraim

“It was like an adventure for him.”

Two friends who saw Berg after he was released said he told them he had been arrested after Iraqi police noticed an Israeli stamp on his U.S. passport.
“He said, ‘You want to hear an interesting story? They thought I was a spy because I had a Jewish last name and had an Israeli stamp in my passport,’”

Let’s hope this isn’t a case where the Iraqi police handed him over.

Sorry for the double post. Here’s the money quote:
“For now, let this be clearly understood: the alleged offense by the newspaper – which merely reported the comment made by a citizen – was only an excuse. Anything at all, anything or nothing, would have served as the trigger of a predictable rioting. If an “offending statemen” had not conveniently appeared, the rioters would have invented one or rioted without one. The minds that we are dealing with feel obliged to prove, time and time again, that they would go to any lengths to impose their concept of appropriate human conduct on their immediate society and even on the world.
The parameters of “offense” are now totally without definition and have turned infinitely expansible. While they deny others the right of freedom of expression, they exercise theirs in the form of bloodletting. The streets of the ancient city of Kaduna are awash with blood because of a group of bigoted murderers who will not accept that it is the right of others to express themselves in the glorification of the human body.”
