: I love I Want Media but I may have to stop going there until a talking ad disappears. Every time I go to the page, it starts jabbering with no way to shut it up. I’m saying all this so IWantMedia’s proprietor can go to the advertiser and say people are complaining. My complaint isn’t with him; it’s with a company called Adfare — whom, you’d think, would know better.

Uh, Jeff, is there some reason the “mute” button (you run Windows, no? Bottom right corner, click the speaker symbol, click the “mute” checkbox) is not an option?

I shouldn’t have to mute my computer just to see a web page. That advertiser has now pissed me off.

  • Charlie

Ah, the advertiser pissed you off. There’s a motivation I can respect.
    Seriously.

You’re right Jeff, same idiot audio spam started here 3 weeks ago (and I know where the ‘Mute’ control is). I consider them intrusive jerks. Also their ‘cookie’(?) silences my AOL IM audio and who knows what else (the program must be rebooted to get it back). They’re calling me on my telephone line, so where’s the Feds ‘no call list’ enforcement on this variation of a commercial call? Maybe there is a spiffy comp. nerd solution to this in our boxes, or maybe soon a downloadable program to defeat these doorbell ringer/horn honkers. My sympathy, G
