I have a simpler solution: If women didn’t always take another woman to the bathroom with them, there’d be half as many of them in there and it would take half the time.

Much as I enjoy weblogging, the eighties version was definitely more sociable – sitting around a flat with a bottle of Bulgarian Cabinet Sauvignon, a few spliffs and Dick Gaughan on the stereo while dissecting the ‘revisionism’ in the pages of Marxism Today.

And this, Harry, may be why so many of us bloggers aren’t as young as we sound. No more late nights with Bulgarian cab for me; I’m snoring on the couch by 11.

: I went to a Google dog-and-pony show this morning on its Adsense program and it’s important to note that Martin Nisenholtz, one of the most important (and smart) people in online media, made a point of mentioning the significance of Nick Denton and other “distributed publishing” (nice new phrase for what we do).

It’s nice when the editors of the New York Times pay attention to weblogs.

But in some ways, it’s even nicer when the business people pay attention.
